Building a Site

This short video is to explain the process of building a new or your first site. The assumption is that CPMage is installed on your server and you are ready to build a site. If you do not have CPMage on your hosting account yet you can view the video on Installing CPMage first.

Hi Mike.
I have always taken a shot in the dark, when it comes to knowing how many posts we can create at one time…
These are things that I think a lot of us would like a little more clarification on:
#1 – If we start our site fresh with 3,500 posts, how many of those should be backdated and how many should be postdated? (Let’s say the domain is 2 years old…)
#2 – When adding a second batch of posts to our site, how long should we wait before doing so?
This is where I am having problems understanding the mechanics of cramming as many posts as we can onto each site.
What is a safe number, for that second batch and thereafter?
If I have 10,000 or 20,000 new posts, can I add those all at once (After Google has seen my site for a couple of days)?
If so, Is there a method of reason that I should use when figuring out inserting the back date and future date?
#3 – How many posts can we have posting each day before Google red-flags that site?
I don’t mean to sound rude with the way I am asking these questions but it seems that I may not be utilizing the posting mage to its full value.
I have always wondered if I am doing the above correctly, and never really knowing…
Is 20, 40, 50, 100 posts per day too many???
Thanks for any advice or methods you can offer us.
Mark it is primarily up to you. I backdate 3 years on a new domain and to the original date of a used domain. I go forward 1 year. I use a 3-5 a day drip for posts. The more posts you have on a site the larger it is on the server and uses more CPU usage when it is loading. This can cause you problems with your hosting company. If you have that many posts you might think about getting your niche tighter.
Hi Mike, GREAT JOB on the videos!
Just got started and feeling my way around. I’m using GoDaddy shared hosting. I installed WPMage on a dotinfo site I have there. I plan on putting the next several $5 sites ( which I expect to have in another day or so) also on GoDaddy shared hosting.
I noticed, however, that CP Mage users have an Admin Panel that allows you to simply type in the domain name to add a new site.
Is therea comparable “Admin Panel” for WP Mage users who don’t use CPMage? Is there a way to use the ” Sacrifice Site” concept with GoDaddy shared hosting?
Or, do we have to go through the lengthy FTP process with the WP Mage zip file every single time we add a new domain to GoDaddy using WP Mage if we want to use shared hosting there?
Thanks,
Norm

OMG!!! I must be the most dense person in the world! Thanks to your videos I think “the light bulb” finally went on!!! But it’s taken a few times watching this to understand. I think I finally get it but would like to clarify – the “posting mage” within the Dashboard seemed to me like duplicating what was already put in within the initial steps of the cpmage “build a new site”. I now realize (I think) that since you only create 1 post with 1 keyword in this initial setup, the “posting mage” in the Dashboard is used to then create all your additional keywords and posts, is this correct?
My mind has been going round in circles trying to figure out what I thought was duplicated information, like there were 2 different methods here and not knowing which to use when or how!!!!
Geez, seems so simple now, can’t believe this was so confusing to me! Afraid I’m one of those who get hung up on some of the smallest details though. I hope I am now understanding this correctly. If not, please let me know.
Thanks Mike for all your videos and personal help you’ve given me.
(Dense) Martha
Hey Martha glad to help. Yes posting mage is how to add posts after the site is up and running. You can add posts at anytime. Also Along with posting mage there is the content generator to use if you create your own templates and there is also the repost wizard for changing your post style if you so choose.
Hi Mike,
I am going nuts with setting up my first site. I simply can’t get the Amazon, Clickbank and CJ ads up – only Adsense. I’ve tried using different templates and moving the Page widget to the sidebar. I’ve double checked all my affiliate IDs. But nothing!!!
Any – very simple – instructions, please?
Thanks,
Judith
Judith I sent you a email on this
Hi Mike,
Wondered if you could give me some direction on how to get a list of posts under each category I have in the sidebar. I’ve downloaded plugins for this, but can’t get them to work. How do you create a list of categories with the posts selectable within that category? Thanks much.
Lee
I have not found a good plugin to do that either. Still looking
Hi Mike…..Dave here….. (BostonDave)
That site is just a site I have started a while ago, but has nothing to do with the mage. Like I said when I PM you I’m just a beginner and a real beginner to the mage only 7 days. A lot to take in here. I am a master mage but have never seen that page you brought up in the video.? Anyways I loved the vid, but I’m going to have to watch it a few times, to get the hang of it….Do you have a channel at UTube that I can subscribe to.? Thanks for the video and hope to see more….Dave
Hi Mike
What a wonderful site you have…. most helpful for we Mage Apprentices! I’m having problems installing my first site… I took advantage of the free CPMage install with Coolhandle but when I try to build my WPMage sites, I get a 404 error…. then it allows me to go through the whole build process, tells me install successful but when I go to my admin, I can’t get into my site, even though I can see all the files there in my CPanel. Any ideas, oh fount of all Mage knowledge?
Thanks
Karen
Hi Mike
Great site…..lots of help for us new Mages. I had Cool Handle install CPMage for me but, when I try to build my Mage sites just as you do in this video, everything seems ok until I actually go to my admin to add posts etc…. at that point, all I get is a blank screen. My domain names and their WPMage installation all appear to be ok if I check in my CPanel. Any ideas what the problem can be? I’ve sent support tickets both to Mage and CoolHandle but maybe you would be quicker with a response?
Thanks
Karen
Karen I would have to look at your site. PM me if you want me to.
Thank you Mike for your video you have made things alot clearer for someone that is new to MAGE. I wish I found your link before as you go into further detail than what is given and I thank you for that.
Sometimes I think we get information overload and although the information is there (no doubt) it is just said another way and then the penny drops.
Take care
Jen
Jen thanks for stopping by and visiting the site. I hope the information is helpful to you.
Mike,
Thank you so much for your video. I’m a new mage and you’ve answered a lot of my questions with your videos.
Thanks Again!
Thanks for stopping by and glad to help.
