Customizing The WPMage.tar File

Do you have plugins that you like to use? Do you have to upload them to each site you build? Well if the answer is yes then I have the answer for you. Customize the WPMage.tar.gz file to meet your individual needs. This process will allow you to have all the your favorite plugins, and themes uploaded to every new site you build. Customizing the file is easy to do if you follow the steps in this video.
Do not worry about messing up the file because if you make an error you can always reload the original file back to the root directory.
If you have any questions or suggestions concerning this video please leave a comment or PM me through the forum.

Update
This video was produced with the mindset that you would be uploading the updated tra file onto a new root domain. It has been found that if you update the tar file and upload it over the old exsiting file on you server there may be conflicts and nothing will work properly .
If you are going to replace an existing wpmage.tar.gz file I recommend that you delete the old wpmage.tar.gz file then upload both of the wpmage files again (public_html as well as the wpmage.tar.gz files).
If there are any questions or issues please PM me or send me a email through the contact page.

Sorry Mike, you approved my “workaround” question but I read it only after I post my new question. Thanks again for this site and your help.
Hello Mike,
I noticed you haven’t approved my post regarding a “work-around” on all blogs with same plugin configurations & settings. Anyway, I am following your video to customize wpmage, then, install cpmage through your another video. I will just configure one site at a time as you suggested.
My question regarding the customization of wpmage.tar file is plugin folders.
I use winrar to extract files and just used the default name of folder it created. For example, if I extract cbnet-ping-optimizer. This will create a folder
cbnet-ping-optimizer and inside this folder is another cbnet-ping-optimizer folder, then, inside this folder is folder and files for the plugin.
When I copy cbnet-ping-optimizer to wp-plugins of wmage.tar file, will that set up work or will that give an error?
Thanks for your help.
Hello Mike,
Thanks for this video. Do you configure the settings & plugins per blog? You know it’s quite tedious to do that when they are all the same for all blogs. Do you have a workaround that we don’t need to configure settings & plugins per individual blog?
Thanks for your help.
I have several clones I use. i use WPTwin to create them and deploy them.
Mike
Do you know how to configure the tar file to automatically configure the plugins for you so you don’t even have to go into them and activate or anything like that?
Mark it is done thrugh the install.php file. Gabe Sasson has a pdf on how to do it on his site http”//magementor.com.
