Customizing The WPMage.tar File

Do you have plugins that you like to use? Do you have to upload them to each site you build? Well if the answer is yes then I have the answer for you. Customize the WPMage.tar.gz file to meet your individual needs. This process will allow you to have all the your favorite plugins, and themes uploaded to every new site you build. Customizing the file is easy to do if you follow the steps in this video.
Do not worry about messing up the file because if you make an error you can always reload the original file back to the root directory.
If you have any questions or suggestions concerning this video please leave a comment or PM me through the forum.
Let me know how you are doing!
So lets get started click play on the video.
Update
This video was produced with the mindset that you would be uploading the updated tra file onto a new root domain. It has been found that if you update the tar file and upload it over the old exsiting file on you server there may be conflicts and nothing will work properly .
If you are going to replace an existing wpmage.tar.gz file I recommend that you delete the old wpmage.tar.gz file then upload both of the wpmage files again (public_html as well as the wpmage.tar.gz files).
If there are any questions or issues please PM me or send me a email through the contact page.

Thank you, Mike.
As I’m a tad technically challenged, I’m a little confused by your “Update”. Any chance of an updated video demo so that there’s no confusion?
Alternatively, would it be better to use a cloning plugin that backs up too?
Do you continue to use the method you demonstrated in your video or have you since moved on to using clone plugin that backs up too? If so, please demonstrate that in a vide.
Incidentally, I’d be happy to pay for any requested video demonstrations for specific issues, either in the way of donations or your quoted price.
Thanks, again. This site is a God-send!
Magda
I do both methods. I clone sites and also modify the .tar file
Hi Mike,
I tried once WPTwin but haven’t used it with CPMage. Is it allright for you to make a video on how to go about it with CPMAge?
Thanks for all your help.
Maria
I will once I get back home Good Idea
Hi Mike,
Thank you for fast answer.
Mike I thought that I could upload the tar file as you did in video.
Thank Piotr
Hi Mike,
I just got approved by EPN and I would like to protect my ebay account. So I though that I could use PhpBay Pro. I just installed the CPMage and I woudl like to ask you if should I follow this video instruction as well to the CPMage 1.6.11 the new version.
And also I would like to ask you where can I find the themes which you were mention in your video.
Thank you Piotr
If you want to customize the latest version of the tar file you can. Just config it how you want nad remove the old tar file and install the new one.
There is a link on the site in the downloads area for the theme I use.
Hi Mike !
Brilliant knowledge base you are building here; and this would be such a time saver.
Can this be done after some sites are running on the sacrificial/root domain, will it mess them up?
Would you recommend only doing this at the beginning before new sites are loaded?
Thanks again
Val
It can be done any time.
James,
I can’t get 7zip to create a tar.gz file although I can create a tar file. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Does it have to be a .gz file?
Please sen me a PM or email as to what you are actually doing.
Mike
Hi Mike,
Great video.
If I understand correctly, an updated WPMage tar.gz file should be uploaded to the root of the sacrificial domain root AFTER the old/original WPMage tar.gz is deleted?
Thanks.
Hi James… That is the way I do it. I do it that way because I have had some conflicts on different servers. There are others that do not delete the .tar file first. You can try it either way to see how it works for you.
I like your site. It is very informative. I did as the instructions said and I uploaded the tar file to my host account. Now when I try to setup a new domain everything goes fine until it tries to display the screen to enter in the keyword, etc. What happens is a “save as” screen pops up and asks me to save or open the file “***.php”. Sorry I can’t remember what the file name was. Anyway, when I close the prompt it shows that my website is created but when I try to login to admin it gives me another open or save as prompt for “wp-login.php”. So I uploaded the old tar file back in and did the process again without any problems. What did I do wrong?
Are you using the old tar file now?
I’m happy to do that.
I had tried to do this on my own and failed. So, thank you so much for this video, which shows me where I went wrong. This is going to save me so much time; I’m so glad I found your site and expect to spend quite some time here!!!
Thanks.
Rose

Good one Mike!
Thanks Mark more to come!
